Home@735 Gallery is pleased to announce that renowned ceramic artist Stephen Bird will be exhibiting a series of oil paintings and porcelain works opening on Wednesday the 25th of May. Join us for drinks from 6-8pm.
Born in 1964 in Stoke on Trent, Stephen Bird lives and works Sydney (AUS) and Dundee (UK). He has been based in Sydney since 2007 where he lectures at the National Art School. Bird studied Fine art at Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, and post graduate studies at Cyprus Art College. He initially trained as a painter but now works across a range of mediums including ceramics, drawing, printmaking and digital animation. Stephen has exhibited extensively for over 20 years in the United Kingdom, USA and Australia. Collections include National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Scotland and National Museums Northern Ireland. Bird has undertaken a number of significant commissions and is featured in many books including Contemporary Ceramics, international Perspective by Emanuel Cooper, published by Thames & Hudson 2009. Bird’s mid career survey show, Bastard Son of Royal Doulton, is touring Australia at the moment and will be shown in the UK in 2018.
